It was 24 years ago when we met a young couple named Peter and Rebecca, who had a dream to reach orphans in Myanmar.

Remembering back 24 years ago, we were teaching in northern China in a large house church. The Korean man who was leading the event mentioned that we should go to Myanmar to visit a young man and woman that he had met. They had 12 orphans and were looking for help. Within a month we traveled there and met Peter and Rebecca, the young couple. That was the beginning of one or two trips each year to their orphanage and hundreds of relationships established along the way with stories of their own.
One of those stories is about a young girl named Esther. She was brought to the orphanage one day. They guessed that she was about two years old at the time. Peter and Rebecca were thrilled to receive her at the orphanage. We met her shortly after she arrived and immediately connected with her at a level that was unique. Whenever we would go there for a visit, she would hang out with us the entire time and would become jealous if we paid too much attention to others...especially if they were boys!We found a note from her while going through old mission papers and would like to share it.

Dear PuPu and PiPi (means grandpa and grandma), Thank you so much for being friends with me this week. I will pray for you every day and night. Thank you so much for playing with me. I am so happy together with you. I pray for you to come again to Myanmar. You are special for God and me. I hope I can see you again. I love you so much. Esther
On one visit as we left, Esther gave Robin a rubber band as a gift. Then she took a tissue and wiped it on Robin’s arm. She kept the tissue. The rubber band was her way of giving a part of herself to Robin to remember her and the tissue a remembrance of Robin to her.Esther is an adult now. She is married and has a wonderful husband and a little girl whose name is Robin. She has been loved by Christ, by Peter and Rebecca, as well as others. Now she shares that love with her own family and the orphans around Love Children Home.We have always enjoyed going to Myanmar and spending time with Peter, Rebecca and the children. Leaving is always the most difficult for us and the kids. But now they know we will return because we have for 24 years.
Next spring Love Children Home in Myanmar will celebrate 25 years ofloving, caring for, and raising these precious kids.
