Called Into Full-Time Missions Ministry

Dear Friends,

In 2020 God called me into full-time missions ministry with Going Global Inc., with the goal to come alongside indigenous leaders to help them accomplish the vision and mission they have received from the Lord. We are committed to feed, clothe, shelter, and educate orphans and widows, and train pastors and leaders in remote overseas countries. Now fifteen years later, we are working with leaders in Kenya, Israel, Vietnam, Myanmar, The Andaman/Nicobar Islands, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Cuba.

This week I was reading through the Psalms and came across a note dated July 18, 2021. The note in the margin of my favorite Bible was from a conversation with our partner in Myanmar, Peter Thang, who recently passed away. It’s from Psalm 91, in which the opening lines read, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust.” He was preaching through Psalm 91 earlier that morning at his church, to those who hear gunshots at night, who have recently been arrested with the political turmoil in their nation, who experience religious persecution, and live in extreme poverty.

Shelter, rest, refuge, and fortress—come on! I could use some of this in my life, could you use some of this in yours? It’s found when we simply draw near to God. The definition of dwell means to remain for a time or to keep your attention directed. I’m reminded of how my kids will snuggle up to me, and how that physical and emotional connection creates a sense of peace and safety. This can be experienced when we do the same to our heavenly Father. War could be breaking out around us, brokenness in our lives, loss, and heartache, but there is a place where rest and refuge is found. Thank you Peter Thang for continuing to teach, your legacy lives on.

I am filled with gratitude for the encouraging notes, conversations, prayer, and financial support. Thank you for believing in me and the work we are doing around the world. I will be sending you this newsletter each month to keep you updated on our ministry and to encourage you on your journey of life and seeking God.

Sincerely,

Bob Gustafson

FROM THE MISSION FIELD

New classrooms at Love Children's Home

MYANMAR

Schools have now been closed for 2 years in Myanmar because of Covid-19 and the political situation. The leaders at Love Children’s Home have started an incredible school for the 150 children on campus. The students are learning english, bible, math, history, science, choir, and receiving vocal lessons. They even have recess, complete with foosball and games. Future church leaders, community leaders, and business leaders will come from this effort.

Future church leaders

ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS

This year we came alongside Raja and Sheeba to start a Bible School that exists to plant churches on all the inhabited Andaman & Nicobar Islands and supply the Church with leaders of competence, character, and spiritual maturity, holistically trained to lead lives of eternal impact by fulfilling the Great Commission.

Samuel and Sui PI, church planters

ONCE AN ORPHAN NOW A CHURCH PLANTER

Sui Pi was five years old when she arrived at Love Children’s Home as an orphan. She continued on at Disciple Bible College and Seminary when she met Samuel, who was leading worship at a Youth Conference held at the church. Shortly after graduating, they got married. In 2016 they planted Life of Worship Assembly Church, where they hold fasting and prayer every Friday, a youth Bible study, Sunday worship services, and fasting and prayer every first three days of the month. Recently a group of Buddhists wrote a letter to the police to have the service shut down, however the police officer stayed and worshipped with them that Sunday!

PRAYER REQUESTS

James 5:16 declares, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Your intercession for Going Global Inc. and our family is powerful. How you can pray for us:

  • Pray for those suffering from the pandemic in all nations.

  • Pray for your church and your pastors.

  • Pray for harvest workers (Matthew 9:37).

  • Pray for our ministry partners in Myanmar as they lead during the political tension.

  • Pray for the new Bible school in the Andaman Islands.

  • Pray for financial support each month.
