Disruption To Destiny

Updated: May 13, 2020

God has a way of using disruptions in our lives to get us to a place where He wants us to be.

During 12 years of being a pastor, I actually struggled to relate to people who were experiencing disappointment, which is really unhelpful when your vocation is to help the hurting. For the past two years I have been receiving God’s comfort, mercy, and grace. I’ve never had a revelation of God like this. Comfort, mercy, and grace exist where it’s needed, so yes, this season has been wrought with pain, loss, and disruption. Oh how I relate to all those words.

This disruption has shifted me from where I was, to prepare me for what’s next. In 2 Corinthians 1:2-11, we see that God is merciful to you, so that you can be merciful. He is comforting to you, so that you can give comfort. Now I see myself in the people I’ve been called to serve.

I relate to Paul, “We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.” 2 Corinthians 1:8-9. There is a victory that happens when we really learn to surrender and trust God with everything.

God has been preparing me for what's next...

This transition has lead me to join Going Global Inc. as director of Growth and Finance. For more than 30 years Going Global Inc. has worked alongside indigenous leaders who have a heart for their country’s people. We’re committed to feed, clothe, and shelter orphans and widows, and train pastors in countries which include: Myanmar, Vietnam, Nepal, The Andaman/Nicobar Islands, Kenya, Israel, and Cuba.

In 2014, I had the opportunity to join Going Global Inc. on a mission trip to Love Children Home in Myanmar. LCH is home to 150+ orphans and Disciple Bible College. I was able to go and thank the people who had been praying for our family for the better part of a year. On that trip I was touched by love that can only come through those who themselves have received God’s love in a powerful way. Orphans who otherwise would be abandoned in the most desperate situations, have instead encountered the transformative love of God in their lives. Now they share that love with others.

The people we are called to reach are hungry and responsive to the good news of Jesus Christ. We really sense God moving us into a season of growth. One such project of growth is a Bible School that just started in The Andaman/Nicobar Islands in response to the need for church planters. We are seeing hundreds accept Jesus in outreaches. This school will train and send leaders into that mission field. I’d like to invite you into this story of love, comfort, mercy, and grace.

With much gratitude,

Bob Gustafson

A Special Message From Dennis Nonnemacher

I want to welcome Bob Gustafson to the Going Global Inc. team. Reinhard Bonnke once said that we must focus on the call and not the need. Bob has a call on his life from the Holy Spirit to the world of cross-cultural ministry. He has focused on that call since our first trip together in 2014. He is rare! Many just want to go on mission trips. He created a ministry to the poor from his passion. On the journey, the Lord has used him to meet needs. Bonnke also said that he did ministry out of what is in God’s pockets, not his own. Bob is doing the same—trusting Him for provision. Will you join me, our board of directors, and those we serve in welcoming Bob to the team.

Thank you,

Dennis Nonnemacher

Prayer Requests

James 5:16 declares, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Your intercession for Going Global and our family is powerful. If you have a prayer need, I would love to know. Please take a moment to fill out the prayer section on the card and send it back in the mail. I will take time to pray for your needs. How you can pray for us:

  • Pray for your pastors as they navigate church in the Covid-19 pandemic.

  • Pray for our government leaders, teachers, and health care workers.

  • Pray that the orphans would remain in good health during this Covid-19 pandemic.

  • Pray for the new Bible school in The Andaman/Nicobar Islands.

  • Pray for me and my family, that we’d experience God’s continued work in our lives.
